H.E Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), held here on Monday afternoon a meeting with the delegation of the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council (U.S.-ABC), led by its President and CEO, H.E. Ted Osius.
The meeting was facilitated by Ms. Bridgette L. Walker, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the United States of America to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
According to the CDC, this meeting reflected the shared commitment of Cambodia and the United States to continue strengthening bilateral economic, trade, and investment cooperation. The U.S.-ABC delegation, which includes representatives from many major American companies, expressed their interest in exploring and leveraging the investment potential in Cambodia, a key member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Taking this opportunity, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the superior potential of Cambodia’s investment landscape. He underscored Cambodia’s efforts to reform and create a favourable environment for foreign investment through the implementation of the new Law on Investment which offers numerous incentives. He also emphasised Cambodia’s role in the ASEAN supply chain as a strategic gateway connecting American investors to regional and global markets.
Furthermore, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the simplification of various procedures, particularly the digitalisation of public services, such as the official launch of the cdcIPM, including the integration of fee payment through the Visa and MasterCard services of partner banks.
The meeting featured discussions on new mechanisms and opportunities to further boost the flow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from the United States to Cambodia, and on finding ways to strengthen the relationship between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the American private sector with the goal of achieving sustainable economic development in Cambodia. Both parties also exchanged views on policy reforms and Cambodia’s investment environment, particularly the new Law on Investment and trade facilitation.
This afternoon’s meeting with the U.S.-ABC delegation was not just a courtesy call; it served as a vital Public-Private Dialogue Forum that actively contributed to addressing challenges and opening a new chapter of cooperation. The meeting is expected to boost the confidence of American investors in the Cambodian market and continue to encourage new investments, which will become a key driving force for Cambodia’s national economic growth in the future.
