National Assembly (NA) President Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary has called on Saudi Arabia to further strengthen cooperation with Cambodia, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, and tourism, during a farewell meeting with the outgoing Saudi ambassador on Thursday.
Samdech Khuon Sudary received at the NA Palace this morning H.E. Mohammed Ismaeil A. Dahlwy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Cambodia, who was paying a courtesy and farewell call upon the completion of his diplomatic mission.
The Cambodian NA President welcomed the ambassador and expressed satisfaction with the achievements made during his three-year tenure, noting that his work had contributed positively to bilateral relations and brought tangible benefits to both countries and their peoples.
She highlighted the steady growth of Cambodia-Saudi Arabia relations across legislative and executive branches, supported by regular exchanges of high-level visits. Former Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen visited Saudi Arabia in 2024, while the Speaker of the Saudi Shura Council paid an official visit to Cambodia in July 2025, further strengthening mutual trust and cooperation.
Samdech Khuon Sudary noted that both countries still have significant untapped potential for collaboration in sectors such as trade, investment, tourism, and education. She stressed the importance of people-to-people ties in deepening bilateral cooperation and encouraged Saudi Arabia to view Cambodia not only as a bilateral partner but also as a gateway to ASEAN and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) market. She also proposed the establishment of direct flights between the two countries.
Ambassador Dahlwy briefed the NA President on the outcomes of his diplomatic mission, expressing warm sentiments toward Cambodia and its people. He voiced support for Cambodia’s proposals and reaffirmed his commitment to continuing efforts to promote bilateral cooperation even after the conclusion of his assignment.
He also revealed that Saudi investors are expected to visit Cambodia in 2026 to explore potential investment opportunities through the Saudi Chambers of Commerce.
