Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has called on Cambodia and France to further deepen cooperation in trade, economy and investment, describing these areas as the core pillars of bilateral relations.
The remarks were made during a courtesy call and working meeting with a delegation of the French-Cambodian Parliamentary Friendship Group led by its President H.E. Thomas Lam at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace this morning, according to Senate Spokesperson H.E. Chea Thyrith.
Samdech Techo welcomed the French delegation and said the visit would help strengthen relations between the two countries, particularly at the legislative level. He described France as a long-standing and close partner with deep historical ties to Cambodia, and expressed hope for increased French investment in the Kingdom.
H.E. Thomas Lam thanked Samdech Techo for the meeting and praised his past leadership in bringing peace, stability and economic progress to Cambodia – achievements that continue under Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet. He also highlighted France’s role in Cambodia’s peace process, notably the 1991 Paris Peace Agreements.
The French lawmaker noted that the visit also contributes to preparations for the upcoming Francophonie Summit, which Cambodia will host later this year, as well as a future visit by the French President.
Samdech Techo expressed appreciation for France’s continued support for Cambodia’s peace-building and development efforts, including cultural cooperation and development projects, and reaffirmed the importance of upcoming high-level exchanges in further strengthening bilateral ties.
Both sides agreed on the need to boost economic, trade and investment cooperation, while working closely to ensure the success of major upcoming diplomatic events in Cambodia.
