Cambodia, European Council Stress Importance of International Law Respect


Cambodia and the European Council (EC) have reaffirmed their support for international law, as Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet met with EC President H.E. António Costa in Belgium on the afternoon of Feb. 25 (Belgian time).

In a statement AKP received this evening, H.E. António Costa expressed his pleasure to meet with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

“We reaffirmed our shared ambition for stronger EU-ASEAN relations, and the importance of respect of international law, including territorial integrity,” he underlined.

In addition, H.E. António Costa emphasised that the EU strongly values Cambodia’s support for Ukraine, including in the UN.

Besides, the meeting touched on Cambodia-Thailand border dispute. “We also discussed the border conflict with Thailand. The EU welcomes the ceasefire agreement and calls on both sides to implement it in good faith,” said the EC President.
