Acting Head of State Calls for Acceleration of Cambodia-Vietnam Border Demarcation

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of Cambodia, has called for accelerating the remaining border demarcation work between Cambodia and Vietnam to ensure its full and timely completion.

The call was made during a courtesy meeting here at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace on Friday with H.E. Tran Cam Tu, Member of the Politburo and Permanent Member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, who is leading a delegation on a two-day official visit to Cambodia, according to Senate spokesperson H.E. Chea Thyrith.

During the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen warmly welcomed the Vietnamese delegation and highlighted that the high-level visit reflects the strong and enduring ties, as well as mutual trust, between Cambodia and Vietnam.

H.E. Tran Cam Tu expressed gratitude for the warm reception and noted that cooperation between the two countries remains robust across party and state frameworks. He underscored the importance of continued collaboration in all sectors, particularly in defence and border affairs, where both sides have worked closely to combat transnational crime and maintain peace, stability, and development along the border.

He also highlighted growing bilateral trade, which has surpassed US$10 billion, with both countries aiming to increase it to US$20 billion in the future. In addition, he stressed the importance of continued cooperation to prevent hostile forces from using one country’s territory against the other.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen fully agreed with the Vietnamese side’s remarks, emphasising the need to further strengthen cooperation among border authorities to ensure peaceful, stable, and developed border areas. He reiterated that economic, trade, and investment cooperation remain central pillars of bilateral relations.

The Acting Head of State also encouraged deeper cooperation among legislative, executive, and party institutions of both countries, while stressing the importance of expediting the border demarcation process. He underscored that completing this work is essential to ensuring a border of friendship, peace, cooperation, and development.

H.E. Tran Cam Tu expressed full support for the call to accelerate border demarcation, noting that its timely completion would significantly contribute to strengthening peace, stability, and the long-standing friendship between the two nations.
