Cambodia and Australia have reaffirmed their strong bilateral relations and looked ahead to celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties next year during a meeting on the sidelines of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings in Manila, the Philippines.
During a pull-aside meeting on the afternoon of July 21, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met with H.E. Penny Wong, Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn expressed satisfaction with the continued progress of Cambodia-Australia relations, highlighting the strong people-to-people connections as well as frequent high-level exchanges and engagements between the two countries.
Looking ahead to 2027, both sides noted that Cambodia and Australia will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations through a series of jointly organised activities marking the historic milestone.
During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn also briefed his Australian counterpart on the latest developments regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border situation.
