Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Civil Service H.E. Hun Many led a major delegation on Sunday to meet with displaced families and oversee direct aid distribution across six temporary resettlement sites, known locally as Rong Cham villages “Waiting Villages,” in Svay Chek District.
H.E. Hun Many, who also serves as President of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), presided over the gathering in Sla Kram commune. The initiative brought together Royal Government leadership, regional authorities, donors, and youth volunteers to deliver essential supplies and social support to more than 3,000 affected families.
Welcoming the delegation, Banteay Meanchey Provincial Governor H.E. Oum Reatrey emphasised that the direct engagement by national leadership provides critical emotional support alongside physical aid, reinforcing social cohesion and ensuring vulnerable communities are not left behind during challenging times.
Delivering greetings on behalf of Acting Head of State Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, H.E. Hun Many highlighted that the relief drive was organised by leveraging charitable sports events to mobilise public donations, foodstuff, and daily essentials from nationwide benefactors.
As part of the relief package, each family received 200,000 Riels (approximately US$50), 20 kilogrammes of rice, one carton of instant noodles, canned fish, basic household goods – including a mosquito net, blanket, krama (scarf), t-shirt, and soap – alongside multiple cases of drinking water, soft drinks, milk, and liquid detergent.
Community members expressed gratitude for the aid package, noting that the contribution significantly eases immediate financial pressures and offers vital reassurance that the broader society remains united in support of vulnerable households.
