Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has instructed all relevant ministries and institutions to pay the utmost attention to the quality control of medicines and cosmetics, including skin-care products, to prevent potential harm to consumers’ health.
The Prime Minister made the instruction while presiding over the official inauguration of Luong Me Hospital, a specialised cancer treatment hospital located in Sangkat Prey Sar, Khan Dangkor district, Phnom Penh, this morning.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said medicines and skin-care products must be carefully examined to ensure their quality, noting that such measures would benefit both sellers and consumers.
He explained that some sellers may not know whether the products they sell are of good quality or whether they could pose health risks, as they are not manufacturers but purchase the products from other sources, sometimes through successive online transactions.
“Therefore, all relevant ministries and institutions, including the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Commerce, among others, must ensure clear and effective management of this issue. We cannot allow a company or anyone to make profits while causing health problems for our people. They must be held strictly accountable for the health and lives of consumers,” the Prime Minister stressed.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet further underlined that while other matters may be subject to discussion and compromise, issues affecting the health and lives of the people must be addressed with clarity and strict responsibility.
