Cambodia received in total 102,560 foreign arrivals in the first semester of this year, down 91.3 percent compared to the same period a year earlier, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

Of the foreign visitors, Thai tourists topped the list with 52,290 arrivals, down 67.5 percent, followed by the Chinese with 29,751, down 89.2 percent.

The other major markets for Cambodian tourism during the period included Vietnam, Indonesia, South Korea, the U.S., Taiwan of China, Malaysia, Japan, and France.

At the same time, 10,538 Cambodians travelled abroad, a year-on-year decrease of 96.6 percent.

For domestic tourists, a total of 1,982,641 people toured Cambodia in the first half of 2021, a decline of 37.3 percent compared to the same time last year.

The Ministry of Tourism has been working with the Ministry of Health and relevant ministries and institutions to allow tourists already vaccinated against COVID-19 to visit the Kingdom.

This initiative would be implemented in the last quarter of this year. It is aimed to revive the tourism sector hit hard by the pandemic.

Last year, Cambodia welcomed 1.3 million international holiday makers, a year-on-year decrease of 80 percent.
