Cambodia, WB Discuss Education Cooperation in COVID-19 Context


The Kingdom of Cambodia and the World Bank have discussed the education situation and cooperation in the context of COVID-19 pandemic.

The discussion took place here yesterday between H.E. Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports and visiting Ms. Manuela V. Ferro, World Bank Regional Vice President for East Asia and Pacific (EAP).

H.E. Hang Chuon Naron underlined the education development plan in each sub-sector, education strategy for online teaching and learning and self-study, teacher training plan, and curriculum changes to respond to the context of COVID-19.

Foreign language study and major achievements of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports were also raised on the occasion.

Ms. Manuela V. Ferro is on her first official visit to Cambodia this week. Besides the education minister, Ms. Ferro met with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Finance, H.E. Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth to discuss challenges of recovery, potential reform agenda to support Economic Recovery and sustainable growth for all Cambodian citizens, according to the World Bank Cambodia.

She visited the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) in Phnom Penh. A new generation of engineering students is learning and preparing to drive Cambodia’s future. She also had the opportunity to meet with management, students, and professors.
