Legal and Judicial Development Project (Phase VI) Officially Launched


The Ministry of Justice and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have signed an agreement to officially launch a five-year Technical Cooperation Project called “The Legal and Judicial Development Project (Phase VI)”.

The agreement was inked between H.E. Chin Malin, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice and Project Director and JICA representative here in Phnom Penh on June 15.

According to a joint press release, the project aims to strengthen the education system at the Royal Academy for Judicial Professions (RAJP), and improve the capacity of judges and other legal professions to competently interpret and apply the Civil Code, the Code of Civil Procedures and other laws in civil justice areas.

Through the project, it added, effective training system focusing on Training of Trainers (ToT) regarding the Laws in Civil Justice Areas at RAJP for the judges and other legal professions will be strengthened.

Funded by the Government of Japan through JICA, this project will commence on Nov. 1, 2022 and last until Oct. 31, 2027.
