U.S. Firms Invited to Contribute to Infrastructure and Energy Development in Cambodia


The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has asked U.S. companies to step in infrastructure and energy sectors in Cambodia.

The request was made by H.E. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport in a meeting here on Aug. 29 with a visiting U.S. Congressional delegation led by Ms. Carol Miller, U.S. Representative for West Virginia.

In the meeting, H.E. Sun Chanthol said Cambodia is an open and free market economy, stressing that it needs all kinds of support, including financial resource, knowledge and skills, to attract foreign investment.

H.E. Senior Minister also briefed the delegation on the country’s mega infrastructure development projects – expressway, deep seaport, new airports, and so on.

Moreover, H.E. Sun Chanthol asked U.S. companies to invest in road construction in Cambodia, as the Kingdom has not yet seen U.S. investment in this field.

The U.S. delegation spoke highly of the fast infrastructure development in the Cambodia, and underlined their intention to strengthen the good relations and cooperation between the two countries, especially the expansion of trade and investment in areas such as gas and energy and port development.
