DPM Prak Sokhonn to Attend First Major Gathering of ASEAN Foreign Ministers in 2023 in Jakarta This Week


H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, will lead a delegation to attend the 32nd ASEAN Coordinating Council (ACC) and ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ (AMM) Retreat, which will be held on Feb. 3 in Jakarta, at the invitation of H.E. Mrs. Retno L.P. Marsudi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
According to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued this evening, the 32nd ACC Meeting will focus on the follow-up to the “ASEAN Leaders’ Statement on the Application of Timor-Leste for ASEAN Membership”, and the “Declaration on the Blue Economy”. The Ministers will also discuss the priorities in 2023.
In the AMM Retreat, the Ministers will deliberate on the follow-up to the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits, including the “ASEAN Leaders’ Review and Decision on the Implementation of the Five-Point Consensus” and the “Recommendations on Strengthening ASEAN’s Capacity and Institutional Effectiveness by the High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Community’s Post-2025 Vision”, as well as exchange views on external relations, and regional and international issues of common interest and concern.
Indonesia will lead ASEAN process this year under the theme “ASEAN Matter: Epicentrum of Growth” to ensure ASEAN becomes a barometer of cooperation that contribute to the peace, stability, and prosperity of the region and the world.
On the sidelines of the gathering, H.E. Prak Sokhonn is expected to hold separate dialogues with his counterparts of some ASEAN countries.
