Australia Supports Cambodia’s Diplomatic Capability

The Australian government has affirmed commitment to contribute to boosting Cambodia’s diplomatic capability through the Mekong-Australia Partnership (MAP).

“We are working with the National Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations (NIDIR) to equip Cambodian diplomats with skills they need to advance Cambodia’s interests abroad,” said the Australian Embassy in Cambodia’s news release issued on May 9.

H.E. Cheuy Vichet, President of NIDIR led a Cambodian delegation for a study tour to Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne recently.

The visit aimed at exchanging experiences and learning from each other on how to recruit and train diplomats in an increasingly complicated international environment.

MAP is an AUD232 million initiative supporting countries in the Mekong subregion to strengthen economic recovery, environmental resilience and human capacity, with a particular focus on bridging the development gap between ASEAN member states.
