Cambodia Reaffirms Commitment to KL Peace Accords

Cambodia has reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration, also known as the KL Peace Accords, emphasising peaceful means and international law as the basis for resolving border disputes and conducting border demarcation with Thailand.

In a message marking the first anniversary of the declaration, from Oct. 26, 2025 to Oct. 26, 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, reiterated that Cambodia remains committed to the spirit and principles enshrined in the agreement.

Cambodia reaffirmed its commitment to resolve the border dispute with Thailand and to conduct border demarcation through peaceful means in accordance with international laws, while refraining from the threat or use of force and any acts of provocation.

The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of existing bilateral mechanisms, including the Regional Border Committee (RBC), General Border Committee (GBC), and Joint Boundary Commission (JBC), as the appropriate channels for addressing border conflict with Thailand.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his gratitude to U.S. President Donald J. Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim for their active roles and encouragement in achieving the KL Peace Accords.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also thanked both leaders for their continued support for a peaceful resolution of border disputes between Cambodia and Thailand, with the aim of achieving sustainable peace between the two countries.

The reaffirmation underscores Cambodia’s stated commitment to dialogue, international law and established bilateral mechanisms as the means of addressing border-related issues and promoting lasting peace between the two neighboring countries.
