PM Calls for Preservation of Original Form of Culture

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has appealed to all stakeholders as well as his compatriots to take part in preserving the original form of national culture.

At the inauguration ceremony of a new building of the Royal University of Fine Arts (RUFA) and the graduation ceremony of 888 students of RUFA, held at the new building in Khan Chroy Changvar, Phnom Penh this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said some ancient constructions, costumes, etc. have been replaced by the new ones which lost their original forms.

Besides, the Premier mentioned about the so-called cultural aggression. “I don’t believe in cultural aggression, but I’m afraid we are the ones who get (foreign culture) voluntarily,” he said.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen took an example of the French protectorate in Cambodia which last nearly 100 years, but Cambodians can still preserve their national culture.

The Prime Minister took the opportunity to remind the importance of peace for the development of all sectors, including culture, stressing that without the Win-Win policy which brought about complete peace to Cambodia in 1998, “Suoy” Dance would not be revived, but disappear forever.
