The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MoEF) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has signed the Grant Agreement for the Project for the Establishment of Nationwide Continuously Operating Reference Station Network worth JPY1,338 million, approximately US$9.7 million.

The agreement was inked here at the ministry on Monday by H.E. Ros Seilava, Secretary of State of MEF, the Royal Government of Cambodia, and Mr. Sanui Kazumasa, Chief Representative of JICA Cambodia Office.

According to JICA’s news release, through the Grant Aid Project, Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) network, in total of 94 and data centre to manage CORS will be built in an integrated manner.

The CORS can receive high accurate positioning data from Global Navigation Satellite System and distribute its data to users. This will lead to strengthening administrative services for land registration and land transaction, as well as digitisation in the field of geospatial information.

In addition to the Grant Aid Project, JICA has been cooperating in capacity development of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC) since 2021 by a Technical Cooperation Project.

The Technical Cooperation Project is focusing on 1) establishment of 5 sets of CORS and Data Centre in pilot area, 2) enhancement of its operation and maintenance, and 3) promotion of its utilisation.

“JICA believe that the Grant Aid signed today together with the Technical Cooperation Project contributes to widely use of CORS in Cambodia,” said the news release.
