Cambodia, China Support Cooperation between Their Defence Ministries

Cambodia and China have expressed their support for all cooperation activities agreed by their Ministries of National Defence, including human resource training, and mine and UXO clearance.

The agreement was underscored by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and visiting H.E. Gen. He Weidong, Second Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China.

Both sides also spoke highly of the excellent relationship between the two countries, which turns this year 65 years old.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet recalled that during his tenure as Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, he initiated and pushed for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Cambodian-Chinese armies, which opened the door to unit-to-unit relations, as well as training to enhance the Cambodian army’s capacity.

For his part, H.E. Gen. He Weidong affirmed his commitment to continue to turn the cooperation between the two countries into practical activities, especially the diamond cooperation.

He shared his optimism that under the wise leadership of Samdech Thipadei, the cooperation between both nations will be further strengthened towards achieving the Cambodia-China Community of Common Destiny.
