Sub-Decree on Measures to Prevent E-Cigarette Use and Distribution Needed

The Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports has asked all concerned institutions to prepare a draft sub-decree on measures to prevent the use and distribution of e-cigarettes.

The request was made by H.E. Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports, in a meeting here in Phnom Penh on April 30.

H.E. Hang Chuon Naron sees a sub-decree with a clear legal basis as an effective measure to solve the e-cigarette issues threatening the health of youth, including students.

It will legitimise school principals to cooperate with local authorities to ban the e-cigarette shops around the schools throughout Cambodia.

The Royal Government of Cambodia has issued a guideline listing the e-cigarette as a type of drug that is harmful to health, and its import, trafficking, and use are prohibited.

The minister also called on competent authorities to take timely action against all forms of e-cigarette distribution and trafficking in Cambodia, especially through online platforms.
