Cambodia Calls on World Parliament to Elevate Efforts for an Equitable World for All

Senior Minister H.E. Ly Thuch has urged the World Parliament to leverage joint efforts to achieve a just and equitable world for everyone.

H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch, who is the First Vice President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), voiced the call in his statement addressing the meeting of the Committee to Promote Respect for International Humanitarian Law at the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva, Switzerland, on Oct. 15, 2024.

In his capacity as the President of the 2024 Ottawa Convention, he highlighted that Cambodia has been working hard to promote the mine-ban treaty, the Ottawa Convention, to contribute to the cause.

The Siem Reap-Angkor Summit on a Mine-Free World that Cambodia will host on Nov. 25-29, 2024, will adopt key action plans to further get rid of landmines from the world, he added.

The senior minister also took the opportunity to encourage countries in the world to continue joining hands with Cambodia in promoting the implementation of the Ottawa Convention.
