Cambodia outlines its endeavours to promote French language competency to acquire 21st century skills among the country’s human resources.
Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport H.E. Dr. Om Romny highlighted the effort in his statement addressing the opening of the World Francophone Science Week on Oct. 16 in Toulouse city, France.
Cambodia’s Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport, he said, has showcased the benefits of multilingualism, especially with French language, among Cambodian youths to seize decent job opportunities.
He added that the ministry has mainstreamed French in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education curricula at different levels.
French science research initiatives in higher education institutions and research institutes have also been introduced in Cambodia.
These are the stepping stones to expose the youth to acquire the 21st century skills in need for the rapid development of technology as well as the emerging highly competitive job markets.
H.E. Dr. Om Romny led a Cambodian delegation to attend the 4th edition of World Francophone Science Week organised from Oct. 14 to 18 by the Francophone University Agency (AUF), and the Government of the French Republic.
