Cambodia Ready to Host International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace Meeting

The organising team has reaffirmed Cambodia’s readiness to host the 11th Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP) on Nov. 23-26 in Phnom Penh.

H.E. Suos Yara, the Chair of the Committee for Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Information of Cambodia’s National Assembly, highlighted the preparedness in an interview with AKP on Nov. 4.

Meanwhile, he added, Cambodia was committed to promoting the values of tolerance and peace through interparliamentary cooperation and diplomacy.

As planned, the event will be officially opened with a royal message of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, and speeches of the heads of the country’s legislative and executive bodies.

The IPTP’s 11th plenary session expects to launch a Phnom Penh Declaration that adopts the Peace Charter to promote peace, tolerance, and sustainable development through multilateral dialogue and cooperation.

The IPTP is a legislative body of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP) established in 2017 to provide a platform for national parliament members to discuss and cooperate on issues of contemporary world peace.

It has members from more than 100 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and North America, and the Cambodian NA joined the network in 2021.
