High Skills Training is Necessary for Cambodia’s Development

Providing high skills training to Cambodian youth, especially in the electronics, ICT and automotive sectors, is a necessity for Cambodia in order to continue supporting high economic growth and stronger development.

The remarks were shared by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, and visiting H.E. Kim Jin-pyo, former Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, during their meeting at the January 7 Palace here this morning.

H.E. Kim Jin-pyo, current Board Chairman of Global Together, informed Samdech Techo Hun Sen of the collaboration between Global Together and the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC) to contribute to the Royal Government of Cambodia in developing human resources, especially in engineering, information technology, and business administration.

He said that vocational training has been a core contributor to the economic development of the Republic of Korea in the past over 50 years, since 1968, and the country has trained over 3 million young people in the digital economy, ICT, spare parts and manufacturing sectors.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen stressed the importance of providing high technical skill training to Cambodian youth, which is in line with the Royal Government’s goal of training 1.5 million Cambodian young people.

The Senate President also recommended the Korean side to continue to cooperate with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, and other relevant ministries, emphasising that this cooperation will yield positive results for the progress and harmony of all.
