The Government of Japan provided nearly US$11 million to strengthen CMAC’s demining capacity and the construction of its training complex and outreach facilities.
The grant agreements were signed here on Mar. 31 between H.E. Ros Seilava, Secretary of State at Cambodia’s Ministry of Economy and Finance and Mr. Sanui Kazumasa, Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Cambodia.
According to CMAC, US$8.4 million of the assistance will be used to purchase technical equipment, including mine-clearing and detection machinery and vehicles to elevate its capacity under the South-South Cooperation Framework of the Economic and Social Development Programme.
Some US$2 million will be used to build CMAC’s training complex and outreach facilities, it added.
