Cambodia, China Committed to Building a Community of Shared Future in the New Era


Cambodian and Chinese leaders have reaffirmed their commitment to building a community of shared future for the new era across all sectors.

The pledge was underscored during bilateral talks between Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and visiting H.E. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh yesterday evening.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet extended a warm welcome to President Xi and expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government and people for their continued support for Cambodia’s development. He highlighted that China’s assistance has been a crucial driving force in advancing Cambodia’s socio-economic growth, infrastructure development, and the improvement of its people’s livelihoods.

The Cambodian Premier further stressed that President Xi’s visit reflects the strength of the relationship and cooperation between the two nations, which share a comprehensive strategic partnership and an enduring ironclad friendship.

For his part, President Xi thanked Cambodia for the warm hospitality and expressed his delight at revisiting the Kingdom. He congratulated Cambodia on its remarkable progress and development and commended the country for its growing international stature.

The Chinese leader also expressed his firm belief that, under the wise leadership of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Cambodia will continue to uphold peace, stability, and steady development across all areas.

As a steadfast friend, President Xi affirmed China’s commitment to further strengthening and broadening cooperation with Cambodia in all fields, pledging unwavering support as the Kingdom strives to achieve its vision of becoming a high-income economy by 2050.

During the talks, the two leaders also exchanged views on deepening bilateral cooperation in priority areas, including politics, security, national defence, trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and infrastructure development.

President Xi pledged to encourage more Chinese investors and tourists to invest and visit Cambodia. He also reaffirmed China’s continued support for mine clearance operations, as well as for road, rural development, water supply, and electricity network projects. Moreover, he announced that China will grant 1,000 government scholarships to Cambodian students over the next three years.
