Cambodia and Kazakhstan are committed to strengthening their cooperation in the tourism sector throughout 2025.
This was the spirit of working discussions between H.E. Huot Hak, Cambodian Minister of Tourism, and H.E. Mr. Yerkinbayev Yerzhan, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, in Shymbulak Resort, Almaty, Kazakhstan on Sunday, said the Ministry of Tourism.
The two sides intend to sign a memorandum of understanding on tourism in the future, recognising Cambodia’s peaceful, politically stable and safe environment, which has made it an increasingly attractive destination for Kazakh tourists in recent years, the source underlined.
According to the ministry, the meeting also highlighted the success of the filming of a Kazakh tourism film in Cambodia by DAUBAY Productions. The two countries share many common values, such as warm hospitality, the friendliness of the people towards tourists and foreign investors, rich traditional cuisine and flavours, and a deeply rooted diverse cultural heritage. In addition, Cambodia and Kazakhstan have maintained diplomatic relations for over 30 years.
Notably, it added, the people and government of Kazakhstan still remember the 1982 visit of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.
In a gesture of hospitality, H.E. the Deputy Minister personally travelled from the capital Astana to Almaty in the early morning to welcome the Cambodian delegation. He took the time to prepare several traditional dishes himself to welcome the minister, reflecting Kazakhstan’s long-standing tradition of warm hospitality.
A high-level delegation of the Ministry of Tourism led by H.E. Minister Huot Hak arrived in Almaty on the night of April 19 to attend the premiere of a tourism film shot in Cambodia by DAUBAY Productions.
