A new Ford production line and sub-assembly plant was officially inaugurated this morning in Pursat province under the chairmanship of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia.
During the ceremony, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his appreciation for the establishment of the new Ford sub-assembly plant, operated by the iconic U.S. car manufacturer.
He also highlighted Pursat province’s growing appeal to international investors, particularly from the United States, Japan, and other countries — noting that the province is now home to around 400 factories.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the Cambodian government’s commitment to supporting investors by further easing regulatory requirements, including tax reductions, and by ensuring long-term political and economic stability.
“Today, Cambodia can proudly label products ‘Made in Cambodia’ not only on garments and textiles but also on cars. This marks a significant milestone for our nation,” he stated.
Samdech Thipadei also reiterated Cambodia’s open and welcoming stance toward all foreign investors, emphasising the country’s commitment to a non-discriminatory investment environment.
The new Ford production line and sub-assembly plant is operated by RMA Cambodia, a private company that has been active in Cambodia since 1992.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Kevin Whitcraft, CEO of RMA Group, shared that the company had made an initial investment of US$21 million to establish a assembly plant on a five-hectare site. The project has since expanded to cover 12 hectares, with the total investment rising to US$26.8 million.
Besides, the company upgraded its production line from Completely Knocked Down (CKD) assembly to Incompletely Knocked Down (IKD)-1 level, which enables an increase in production capacity to over 10,000 vehicles per year, he added.
According to the Prime Minister, Cambodia is now home to a total of nine car assembly plants.
