The Kingdom of Cambodia and the Kingdom of Bahrain have agreed to establish a consultation mechanism between their respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs to strengthen and broaden bilateral cooperation.
The agreement was reached during a meeting this morning in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, between Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, on the sidelines of the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet briefed the Crown Prince on Cambodia’s efforts to diversify its trade partnerships, particularly with countries in the Middle East. He also highlighted the country’s investments in infrastructure development, including the construction of a new international airport, expressways, and the expansion of the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port to transform it into a key regional logistics hub capable of accommodating global cargo shipments.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa expressed Bahrain’s interest in strengthening international cooperation, particularly in the fields of energy, financial technology (FinTech), banking, and artificial intelligence (AI). He also emphasised Bahrain’s strategic role as a major logistics hub for regional and global trade.
Both leaders acknowledged the complementary nature of their economies and agreed on the potential for enhanced cooperation in various sectors, including aluminum supply for the construction industry.
