School Aid Japan, a non-governmental organisation actively engaged in humanitarian activities, is planning to construct 20 school buildings across Cambodia each year.
The plan was announced by Mr. MIKI Watanabe, Chief Executive Officer of Watami Co., Ltd. and Chairman of School Aid Japan, while paying a courtesy visit to Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet in Tokyo, Japan, on May 28.
During the meeting, Mr. MIKI Watanabe shared details about the organisation’s longstanding involvement in Cambodia. For over two decades, School Aid Japan has supported Cambodian children—especially orphans—through initiatives such as operating orphanages, supporting educational projects, and providing food assistance.
Mr. MIKI Watanabe also expressed his deep gratitude to the Royal Government of Cambodia for its ongoing support of the organisation’s work.
In reply, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet highly appreciated the School Aid Japan’s contributions to Cambodia’s socio-economic development, particularly in the education sector. He noted that the NGO’s efforts align closely with the Royal Government’s vision of promoting the education sector by enhancing educational infrastructure from preschool through high school.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s continued support for the NGO’s activities and encouraged the organisation to sustain its mission—an essential contribution to building Cambodia’s human capital.
