Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, held separate meetings with executives of four leading Japanese companies in Tokyo on May 28, as part of his official working visit to Japan.
The executives included Mr. YOSHIHISA Kainuma, Chairman and CEO of Minebea Mitsumi Inc.; Mr. OKUMURA Yusuke, President of KOUA SHOJI Co., Ltd.; Mr. HIROKI Kuriyama, President and CEO of NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL Inc.; and Mr. MAEDA Tadashi, Chairman and CEO of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
The executives briefed Samdech Thipadei on their companies’ operations and expressed keen interest in in exploring investment opportunities and expanding their operations in Cambodia.
Mr. YOSHIHISA Kainuma of Minebea Mitsumi Inc. expressed his sincere appreciation to the Royal Government of Cambodia for its consistent support. He informed the Prime Minister that construction of the company’s new factory in Cambodia is expected to be completed by the end of this year. He described Cambodia as an attractive destination for foreign investment.
Mr. OKUMURA Yusuke of KOUA SHOJI Co., Ltd. shared that his company has been active in Cambodia since 2015, working with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on waste recycling projects in Svay Rieng province. The company currently operates in the Royal Group Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone, recycling plastic into reusable materials for local and export markets. He also mentioned new initiatives, including mobile and container-based waste recycling, being developed in partnership with Japanese entities to expand operations.
Mr. HIROKI Kuriyama of NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL Inc., a major Japanese telecommunications provider, announced plans to explore investment opportunities in Cambodia’s digital sector, with the goal of contributing to the development of the country’s digital economy and society through advanced technologies.
JBIC’s Mr. MAEDA Tadashi highlighted the bank’s interest in collaborating with Cambodia on key development initiatives. He expressed JBIC’s readiness to support projects in infrastructure, energy, waste management, and clean energy to help advance the Royal Government’s socio-economic goals.
In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed their investment interests and introduced government policies and incentives aimed at supporting foreign investors. He reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to providing a competitive, business-friendly environment and emphasised the potential for investment across various promising sectors.
The Prime Minister encouraged the companies to engage directly with relevant ministries and institutions to further explore specific opportunities and deepen cooperation with Cambodia.
