Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has highlighted education as a driving force behind the development of Kampong Speu province, located just outside the capital, Phnom Penh.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of new school facilities and other achievements in Oudong Mechey city, Kampong Speu, this morning, the Premier said parts of the province were previously lagging behind in development but have now made significant strides thanks to the government’s investment in education.
“The progress of Kampong Speu would not have been possible without the Royal Government’s investment in education and human capital,” Samdech Thipadei underlined.
He urged youth in Kampong Speu and other provinces to continue prioritising education, reaffirming the government’s commitment to improving the quality of education nationwide.
Kampong Speu Governor H.E. Cheam Chan Sophorn reported that the province, which spans 6,969 square kilometres and lies 48 kilometres from Phnom Penh, is home to around 948,000 people, with a GDP per capita of approximately US$2,000.
He added that Kampong Speu hosts 1,442 factories and enterprises, employing about 254,000 workers.
In the first half of 2025, Cambodia attracted a total of 373 investment projects worth US$5.8 billion, creating approximately 255,000 jobs. Among these, Kampong Speu recorded the highest number of approved projects, with 92 investment projects.
