Cambodia Partners with China to Promote Sports Tourism Through Martial Arts

The Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia is partnering with the Kun Khmer Federation of Cambodia and Emei-Legend, a renowned martial arts club from Sichuan Province, China, to promote sports tourism and boost international tourist arrivals to the Kingdom.

This commitment was made during a meeting held in Phnom Penh on Monday between H.E. Huot Hak, Cambodian Minister of Tourism, Mr. Mei Jiaxiang, founder of Emei-Legend, and H.E. Khov Chhay, President of the Kun Khmer Federation.

According to the Ministry, the three parties discussed collaborative plans to host a series of major international boxing events, linking martial arts with tourism by strengthening ties between Cambodia and China’s boxing communities.

H.E. Huot Hak welcomed the initiative and praised the two institutions for identifying Cambodia’s vast tourism potential and investment opportunities through combat sports. He emphasised that boxing—especially Kun Khmer—is not only a sport but also a symbol of national identity, self-defence, and cultural heritage.

The initiative will also help promote Kun Khmer-Bokator to the Chinese people and the world, as well as bringing the world to Cambodia through Kun Khmer-Bokator.
