H.E. Dr. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment of Cambodia, met with a delegation of leading Chinese environmental technology companies on July 7 afternoon, to discuss investment opportunities supporting Cambodia’s national cleanliness strategy.
The delegation was led by Mr. Li Wenjie, Chairman of Guangzhou Zhongke Environmental Technology Co., Ltd., and included senior representatives from Shenzhen Santai Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., and Jiangxi Jindalai Environmental Protection Co., Ltd.
H.E. Eang Sophalleth welcomed investors committed to Cambodia’s development, particularly in environmental protection aligned with the policies of the Royal Government under Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet. He emphasised the Ministry’s focus on adopting new, context-appropriate technologies to advance Cambodia’s “Clean Environment Strategy”: Clean on Sky, Clean on Land, and Clean on Water.
“While significant progress has been made in air and land cleanliness through campaigns involving sub-national authorities, schools, and citizens, the Ministry is prioritising innovative solutions for Clean on Water,” he stated. This includes advanced wastewater treatment systems for residential areas, factories, and urban centers – ensuring compliance with technical standards while promoting public and investor cost-efficiency.
H.E. Minister encouraged the companies to establish local offices in Cambodia to conduct feasibility studies. He specifically highlighted investment opportunities in: Wastewater treatment plant construction; Production of liquid waste purification equipment; and Technical solutions aligned with Cambodia’s green and sustainable development goals.
In response, Mr. Li Wenjie commended Cambodia’s environmental progress and the Ministry’s efforts, which he noted were attracting foreign investment. He stated that the three Chinese companies – each with over 10 years of experience in wastewater management across China, Indonesia, Dubai, and Thailand – are eager to contribute their expertise to Cambodia’s cleanliness ambitions.
The meeting concluded with mutual commitment to advancing Cambodia’s environmental sustainability.
