Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, H.E. Dith Tina, this morning led a Royal Government working group to Banteay Meanchey province, providing essential aid and support to families displaced by recent border incursions.
Over 140 families, comprising both civilians and military personnel, were evacuated from border areas to safe zones in Phnom Dey and Nam Tav communes, Phnom Srok district, Banteay Meanchey province.
This displacement follows armed clashes on July 24 between Cambodian and Thai forces along the borders of Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear provinces.
During the visit, Minister Dith Tina expressed profound sympathy for the hardships faced by those forced to leave their homes. He reiterated the Royal Government’s unwavering commitment under the leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, assuring that the Royal Government “will never abandon its people and will continue to prioritise their safety, food security, and temporary shelter.”
“We express our profound regret over this incident caused by the neighbouring country’s military incursion,” Minister Dith Tina stated. “However, we must remain united and face these challenges with patience and solidarity.
The Royal Government will do its utmost to protect our territorial integrity and ensure the safety of every citizen.”
The Minister extended his gratitude to local authorities, armed forces, the Cambodian Red Cross, and all philanthropists who have actively participated in evacuating residents and organizing the safe zones.
Banteay Meanchey Governor H.E. Oum Reatrey provided Minister Dith Tina with an update on the situation, confirming the diligent efforts of provincial authorities in facilitating the relocation and ensuring the provision of food, clean water, and primary healthcare services to the displaced.
Governor Reatrey affirmed the provincial administration’s commitment to close cooperation with relevant ministries and institutions to guarantee security and well-being while closely monitoring the evolving border situation.
During their visit, Minister Dith Tina and the working group distributed essential food aid, including rice, instant noodles, canned fish, fish sauce, soy sauce, and other necessities, to the more than 140 affected families.
This humanitarian effort aims to provide both material assistance and moral support, reaffirming the Royal Government’s solidarity with its citizens during this challenging time.
The Royal Government and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces continue to closely monitor the situation along the border to ensure national security and sovereignty.
