Cambodia Prepares for Regional Border Committee Meeting to Promote Peace and Stability

Cambodia is preparing for a meeting of the Regional Border Committee (RBC) with Thailand, scheduled to take place within the next two weeks, H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, said during a press briefing in Phnom Penh this morning.

The upcoming RBC meeting aligns with the spirit and agreements reached at the Extraordinary Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) between Cambodia and Thailand, held on Aug. 7, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, she said.

“Cambodia strongly hopes that this RBC meeting will contribute positively to the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and will help restore peace, security, stability, and normalcy in relations between the two countries,” she underlined.

H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata further stressed that borders cannot be altered through the use of force, and that border issues must be resolved through technical and international legal mechanisms.

She reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to work constructively, in good faith, and in close cooperation with Thailand, Malaysia, other ASEAN member states, and all relevant partners to ensure the effective and full implementation of the ceasefire and to resolve all disputes peacefully in accordance with international law, the UN Charter, and the ASEAN Charter.
