The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has expressed strong interest in promoting cooperation with Cambodia on social infrastructure development projects, particularly in the modern education sector.
During a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet in Tianjin, China this afternoon, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Plus Summit 2025, H.E. Jin Liqun, Chair of the Board of Directors and President of the AIIB, said the Bank is pleased to continue supporting Cambodia through key projects.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed the AIIB’s interest in exploring further cooperation opportunities in Cambodia, while reaffirming that hard infrastructure remains a national priority. He underscored the Royal Government’s ongoing efforts in this sector, citing the construction of the new international airport and the Funan Techo Canal project, both designed to drive industrial and logistics development.
“The main priority of the Royal Government, from previous mandates until now, has been to build quality human capital. In this regard, the Royal Government has launched policies to reform the education system from primary to high school, expand vocational training programmes, and strengthen health infrastructure at all levels, especially grassroots service delivery,” he said.
He further stressed that developing human capital with clear professional skills is a long-term investment essential to meeting the demands of current and future industrial growth.
The Prime Minister encouraged AIIB to continue working closely with the relevant ministries and institutions to expand practical cooperation in Cambodia.
Earlier today, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also met with H.E. Wang Huning, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). On the occasion, both sides expressed satisfaction with the steady progress of cooperation between Cambodia and China across all fields.
