Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, met yesterday with H.E. Wang Huning, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), in Tianjin, China, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Plus Summit 2025.
H.E. Wang warmly welcomed Samdech Thipadei and his delegation to China, noting that their presence demonstrates Cambodia’s strong commitment to strengthening the traditional and enduring ties between the two countries.
The Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee underlined that Cambodia-China relations have withstood changing international circumstances and grown increasingly stronger and more stable over time. He added that during the bilateral meeting with Samdech Thipadei on Aug. 30, Chinese President H.E. Xi Jinping outlined important directions to further deepen bilateral relations, reaffirming that China will continue its support for Cambodia unwaveringly.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet reiterated Cambodia’s commitment to further strengthening the Cambodia-China partnership. He expressed gratitude to the Government and people of China for their consistent support in enhancing Cambodia’s development capacity toward self-reliance and in safeguarding its national sovereignty.
Regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border situation, the Prime Minister called on China to encourage both sides to avoid the use of military force in resolving outstanding border issues—particularly in populated areas—and instead to pursue peaceful solutions through existing border mechanisms, including the Cambodia-Thailand Joint Border Committee (JBC), based on existing bilateral agreements, relevant treaties, and international law.
