Banteay Meanchey Province Launches First Modern Rice Farming Community

Banteay Meanchey province has established its first modern rice farming community, bringing together more than 300 families to cultivate a combined 3,000 hectares of land.

The “Preah Netr Preah Meanchey” community has already developed a business plan for its first planting season, with a focus on growing fragrant rice varieties for forward purchase contracts.

H.E. Khim Finan, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, stated on Aug. 31 that the community’s membership has grown significantly from its initial 200 families.

He noted that the increasing number of farmers joining the community is a positive sign, as these modern agricultural structures help protect them from volatile market prices.

The Undersecretary of State also confirmed that the ministry is prepared to support the creation of similar communities for farmers nationwide.
