The Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia has categorically rejected the repeated, baseless accusations by Thailand that Cambodia had used and deployed new landmines along the shared border.
The rejection was delivered this afternoon by H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, in a press release.
“The Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia reaffirms that it has not used or placed any new landmines and remains fully committed to the Ottawa Convention on the Prohibition of Anti-Personnel Mines, to which Cambodia is a State Party. These false accusations not only escalate tensions but also seriously undermine mutual trust and confidence,” she stressed.
The spokesperson urged the Thai side to respect the spirit of the agreements reached at the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) and Regional Border Committee (RBC) meetings, including the Agreed Minutes of the 1st Special Cambodia-Thailand GBC Meeting held on Sept. 10, 2025. These commitments include avoiding the spread of false or misleading information, reducing tensions, preventing negative public opinion, and fostering a constructive atmosphere for diplomatic dialogue—essential steps toward fully implementing the ceasefire agreement and restoring normalcy.
H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata further reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to cooperation with Thailand at all levels to promote peace, stability, and development for the mutual benefit of both nations and their peoples.
