A delegation from the Shandong Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce has met with Minister Hem Vanndy at the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI) to explore new investment opportunities and potential support for Cambodian SMEs, particularly in technology and machinery upgrading.
During the meeting held at the Ministry on Dec. 11, H.E. Hem Vanndy highlighted MISTI’s broad mandate, underscoring Cambodia’s openness to deeper cooperation. “We welcome Shandong investment and we are ready to share information, support your endeavours, and contribute to your business ventures in Cambodia,” he said.
Heading the Shandong delegation, Mr. Yang Hongyu emphasised the province’s strong industrial base and extensive business network. “With more than 400,000 members in our federation, many already operating and succeeding in Cambodia, we see significant room to collaborate, especially in innovation,” he said.
He added that the visit aims to encourage more Shandong enterprises to explore investment and service opportunities in the country.
Minister Vanndy briefed the delegation on Cambodia’s preparations for its 2029 LDC graduation, noting that higher global requirements—such as rules of origin, local content, and ESG—will demand stronger industrial capabilities and deeper technological cooperation.
He encouraged Shandong to play a role in this transition by helping strengthen local SME suppliers and sharing appropriate technologies. “Global requirements will be higher, and we ask Shandong to support us not just for today’s profit but for the post-2029 future,” he said.
He welcomed the idea of establishing business advisory services to guide Cambodian SMEs, including in technology and machinery investment.
