The Ministry of National Defence has called on the Cambodian people to continue supporting the Royal Government and the armed forces amid ongoing Thai military attacks.
“We appeal to all citizens to maintain full confidence in the Royal Government of Cambodia and to continue encouraging our brave and heroic soldiers who are fighting fiercely on all fronts,” said H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, during a press briefing this morning.
She provided an update on Thailand’s continued aggressive and indiscriminate attacks on Cambodia in Military Regions 4 and 5 from last night through this morning. She underlined that, in this critical moment, the Royal Government, the armed forces, and the Cambodian people remain united in defending the nation’s territorial integrity, dignity, and sovereignty with courage and unwavering determination.
The spokeswoman urged Thailand to honour the Ceasefire Agreement and the Joint Declaration signed on Oct. 26, 2025, witnessed by U.S. President Donald J. Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister H.E. Anwar Ibrahim, in his capacity as ASEAN Chair.
H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata reaffirmed Cambodia’s firm commitment to upholding and implementing the Ceasefire Agreement, the Joint Declaration, and all previously concluded agreements in good faith. She emphasised that Cambodia continues to seek peaceful solutions based on international law, treaties, and conventions, aiming for outcomes that are just, fair, durable, and consistent with international legal principles.
“Cambodia’s right to self-defence is directed solely at Thai military targets and has never been aimed at civilian areas,” she reiterated. “We firmly stress that Cambodia has consistently upheld all obligations under international law, particularly international humanitarian law.”
