Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and the United Nations have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation on food security and sustainable agricultural development, officials said.
Agriculture Minister H.E. Dith Tina met on Mar. 16 with Ms. Vladanka Andreeva, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Cambodia, and Ms. Rebekah Bell, Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Cambodia, during a courtesy call in Phnom Penh.
The meeting brought together senior ministry officials and UN representatives to review ongoing collaboration and discuss shared priorities in strengthening food security and promoting sustainable agri-food systems nationwide.
H.E. Dith Tina welcomed the UN delegation and underscored the importance of further enhancing cooperation with UN agencies to support Cambodia’s agricultural sector, particularly in ensuring long-term food security and advancing sustainable development.
Both sides highlighted the United Nations’ more than seven decades of partnership with Cambodia, noting continued joint efforts between the Royal Government and UN agencies to bolster agriculture, forestry and fisheries, support farmers and rural communities, and promote resilient and sustainable food systems.
The United Nations has been engaged in Cambodia since the 1950s, contributing to national development through peacebuilding, humanitarian assistance and long-term cooperation across sectors including agriculture, health, education and climate resilience.
