Cambodian Red Cross Delivers Emergency Aid to Gust Victims in Kampong Cham

The Cambodian Red Cross (CRC) has distributed humanitarian aid to families left vulnerable by recent severe gusts in Kampong Cham province’s Chamkar Leu district.

A total of 73 families were affected by the gusts, with 35 of the most severely hit households receiving direct relief packages.

The assistance was extended under the direction of CRC President Samdech Kittiprittpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen and delivered on Monday morning by a delegation led by H.E. Un Chanda, Governor of Kampong Cham province and Head of the Provincial Red Cross Branch, together with local officials and working groups.

At the distribution ceremony, Governor H.E. Un Chanda conveyed deep sympathy to the victims on behalf of the nation’s leadership. He reaffirmed the commitment of CRC President Samdrch Kittiprittpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen, who remains devoted to the timely rescue and support of vulnerable citizens under the organisation’s guiding principle: “Where there is hardship, there is the Cambodian Red Cross.”

The Governor also issued a safety advisory, urging residents to stay vigilant during severe weather and warning of the dangers posed by heavy rains, lightning, and strong gusts. He further encouraged families to prioritise their health and diversify their agricultural activities to strengthen household income and long-term recovery.

According to provincial authorities, the emergency relief packages provided to the 35 hardest-hit families included: 25 kilogrammes of rice; 1 box of instant noodles; 1 pack of canned fish; a quantity of daily necessities; and cash assistance, scaled to the level of property damage sustained.
