Tourism Minister Presides Over Cambodia Travel Match 2026 Mini-Series

H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, presided over the opening ceremony of the Cambodia Travel Match 2026 Mini-Series, an initiative aimed at promoting Cambodia’s tourism sector to the global market and strengthening cooperation between international tourism buyers and local tourism operators.

The event, held on Tuesday, brought together approximately 200 participants, including tourism buyers from China, Vietnam, and Myanmar, as well as Cambodian tourism sellers and stakeholders, to expand business networks, exchange experiences, and share updates on tourism development.

Speaking at the ceremony, H.E. Huot Hak expressed appreciation to the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), the Cambodia Tourism Federation (CTF), the Cambodia Tourism Board (CTB), sponsoring partners, and related stakeholders for jointly organising the event.

The Minister noted that Cambodia Travel Match 2026, now being held for the third time, has become a comprehensive and sustainable tourism marketplace reflecting Cambodia’s proactive response to the rapidly evolving global tourism landscape through stronger connectivity and long-term partnerships.

Despite global and regional economic and geopolitical uncertainties in 2025, Cambodia welcomed approximately 5.6 million international tourists, demonstrating the resilience and quality growth of the tourism sector, he said. During the first four months of 2026, Cambodia received more than 1.3 million international tourists, including over 330,000 Chinese visitors, around 312,000 Vietnamese tourists, and more than 10,000 tourists from Myanmar.

H.E. Huot Hak also announced that the Royal Government has approved in principle a four-month visa exemption pilot programme for Chinese tourists from June 15 to Oct. 15, 2026, describing it as a historic opportunity to further promote Cambodia as a tourist destination.

The Minister stressed that Cambodia remains a safe destination for tourism and investment under the leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, supported by lasting peace and political stability.

He highlighted Cambodia’s tourism potential, including the Angkor Archaeological Park, coastal destinations, eco-tourism sites, the Mekong River and Tonle Sap Lake, community-based tourism, and Khmer cuisine.

H.E. Huot Hak also pointed to the country’s favourable investment environment, improved infrastructure, and stronger regional connectivity through Techo International Airport and Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport, which are helping position Cambodia as a regional tourism and business hub.

The Minister further informed participants that the Ministry of Tourism has officially launched the “Visit Cambodia in the Green Season” campaign from May to October, featuring promotional packages linked to the “6 Musts” campaign: Must See, Must Stay, Must Taste, Must Visit, Must Try, and Must Buy.
