H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, on Wednesday presided over the opening of the 2026 Tourism Business Forum under the theme “Promoting the Visit Sihanoukville-Cambodia during Green Season Campaign” at Sokha Beach Resort in Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk province.
H.E. Mang Sineth, Governor of Preah Sihanouk province, said the forum and a tourism familiarisation trip for Chinese tourism businesses aim to promote the Green Season campaign, attract Chinese tourism businesses and investors, and increase direct flights to welcome more international tourists, particularly Chinese visitors, to the province.He highlighted Preah Sihanouk’s potential as an S3 (Sea, Sun and Sand) destination and its strategic location linking the Southern Coastal Tourism Corridor with countries in the region by land, sea and air. The province is also being developed as a model multi-purpose special economic zone and an ASEAN green city under the Royal Government’s vision to 2038.
The Governor added that the provincial administration has been promoting diverse tourism products and activities, including beaches, coral and marine biodiversity, island excursions, kayaking, river cruises, community-based tourism and agro-tourism, as well as tourism information centres, souvenir shops, food streets and tourism events.
He noted that the Royal Government has supported the Ministry of Tourism’s “Green Season” campaign, which highlights Cambodia’s scenic landscapes, rich culture and peaceful environment while promoting the monsoon period as an ideal time to visit the Kingdom.
For his part, H.E. Huot Hak said the forum aims to connect investors and promote Cambodia’s tourism potential in line with the Royal Government’s policies to create a favourable environment for tourists and investors. He noted that the Visit Cambodia during Green Season 2026 campaign runs from June 15 to Oct. 15, 2026.
The Minister thanked the provincial administration and Chinese tourism businesses for their participation and encouraged Chinese travel agencies to develop tourism packages and promote Cambodia’s four coastal provinces, known as K4, while stressing that tourism serves not only as a source of revenue but also as a bridge for attracting direct investment.
Held in the framework of the Cambodia-China Tourism Year, the forum also featured exhibitions of local and One Village One Product (OVOP) goods and tourism-related sports activities, including Kun Khmer, beach volleyball, table tennis and arm wrestling.
H.E. Huot Hak outlined three priorities: strengthening public-private partnerships, improving service quality and developing new tourism products, and preparing for increased flows of international tourists and investors to Preah Sihanouk province.
