PM Hun Manet Challenges Overseas Opposition Over Cambodia-Thailand Border Allegations

Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has criticised a group of Cambodian opposition politicians based abroad for repeatedly accusing the Royal Government of losing Cambodian territory along the Cambodia-Thailand border without presenting clear evidence or supporting documents.

In a social media post, the Prime Minister questioned why the group had remained silent following Thai media reports that Thailand’s unilateral construction of a concrete border fence between boundary markers No. 52 and No. 59 had prevented dozens of Thai families from continuing to farm land on the Cambodian side of the border.

Samdech Thipadei said the overseas opposition group had repeatedly accused the Royal Government of losing territory through the placement of temporary border markers and Thailand’s unilateral construction of the concrete fence, despite what he described as a lack of clear evidence or documentation to support the allegations.

He noted that the group had often relied on information published by Thai media outlets to make accusations against the Royal Government.

However, the Prime Minister pointed to recent Thai media reports stating that 66 Thai families, who had previously cultivated 863 rai of farmland, equivalent to approximately 138 hectares, could no longer continue farming the land following Thailand’s unilateral construction of the concrete fence between boundary markers No. 52 and No. 59.

The Prime Minister questioned why the same opposition politicians who had frequently raised allegations against the government had remained silent over these reports.

He further challenged the group’s credibility, arguing that its members continued to accuse the Royal Government of losing Cambodian territory without clear evidence, while refusing to acknowledge or discuss reports that were supported by evidence and documentation.
