Cambodian Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology H.E. Thor Chetha met with Ms. Hu Wen, Director General of the Anhui Meteorological Service under the China Meteorological Administration (CMA), on Tuesday to discuss deepening bilateral cooperation in meteorological development.
During the meeting at the ministry’s headquarters in Phnom Penh, H.E. Thor Chetha warmly welcomed the Chinese delegation, which was tasked with collaborating with Cambodian authorities to implement and evaluate the performance of China’s MAZU system in the kingdom.
The two sides discussed strengthening long-term cooperation mechanisms, promoting regular exchange visits, fostering technical communication, conducting specialised training, and enhancing bilateral collaboration in the meteorological sector to further consolidate traditional ties between the two countries.
MAZU is a comprehensive early warning capacity-building solution launched by the CMA in 2025. Designed to mitigate weather-related disaster risks globally, the initiative directly supports the United Nations’ “Early Warnings for All” (EW4All) initiative.
To date, the MAZU solution has been deployed via cloud-based services in more than 40 countries and officially installed and operated in seven nations.
