Cambodian PM Encourages Younger Generation to Learn More Skills

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet this morning encouraged the younger generation to joint more skill training programmes.

Addressing the launching ceremony of the social security scheme on health care and technical and vocational training programme for poor and vulnerable youths, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet told the younger generation that technical skills will give many choices for their better future.

The Premier said younger generation must make more efforts on their own because the Royal Government as well as their guardians or parents cannot always help them, therefore they have to strive to get more skills as they can.

“Times are flying fast, a day has 24 hours, and a week has 7 days, but they will not wait for us, therefore if we spend 3 months, or 6 months or a year to improve our skills, we can have choices for our future. We want all youth to pay high attention to technical skills training for their respective future,” he underlined.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet instructed the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training to cooperate with other ministries-institutions and all relevant partners to disseminate widely to the poor and vulnerable families and individuals of formal and informal economy the training opportunities and encourage them to enroll in the training programme.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also advised the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training to apply the digital enrollment programme to assist the target group.

According to Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, this technical and vocational training programme has been designed for 1.5 million young people from poor and vulnerable families nationwide without paying tuition fees, but receiving a monthly stipend of KHR280,000 (about US$70 ) plus other benefits.
