Informal and Friendly Breakfast Meeting Strengthens Ties between Cambodian, Lao and Vietnamese Parliamentary Leaders

Parliamentary leaders of Cambodia, Lao PDR and Viet Nam had an informal and friendly breakfast meeting this morning, during their stay in Vientiane, Lao PDR for the 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-45), according to the Cambodian National Assembly (NA)’s news release.

Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the Cambodian National Assembly (NA), thanked H.E. Xaysomphone Phomvihane, President of the NA of Lao PDR, for taking the time from his busy schedule to hold this informal tripartite meeting between the parliamentary leaders of the three countries. The meeting aimed to strengthen solidarity, friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between the NAs and the peoples of the three countries.

Samdech Khuon Sudary emphasised that the bond of traditional friendship and good cooperation is a valuable asset and a foundation of cooperative relations in all fields, yielding positive results for the three nations, their peoples, and the region. The leaders of the three parliaments are committed to continuing to nurture and strengthen this traditional friendship and comprehensive, long-lasting strategic partnership with a people-centered focus.

Cooperation between Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Viet Nam not only benefits their people but also helps maintain peace, stability, and promote pluralism in a rapidly changing world marked by the erosion of the rules-based international order and rising conflicts.

Samdech Khuon Sudary, H.E. Xaysomphone Phomvihane and H.E. Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the NA of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam also shared views on promoting cooperation on transnational crimes, cross-border trade and tourism, and people-to-people connectivity. They committed to the “Three Countries, One Destination” initiative to make travel between the three countries more convenient for tourists.

Samdech Khuon Sudary wished the AIPA-45 General Assembly, organised by the Lao NA, a successful and fruitful event for the benefit of the nations and peoples of the three countries, as well as ASEAN and the world.

The three parliamentary leaders expressed hope for more informal and friendly breakfast meetings in the future. The breakfast meeting was held in an atmosphere of friendship, fraternity, mutual respect, and mutual understanding.
