Government Spokesperson: Thailand’s Accusations Misrepresent Cambodia’s Peace-Loving Nature

Cambodian remains firmly committed to preserving peace at all costs, and the recent accusations by Thailand does not reflect the true nature of Cambodia as a peace-loving nation.

“Over the past three decades, peace has become the identity of Cambodia. We achieved full peace on Dec. 29, 1998, through the Win-Win Policy of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the former Prime Minister and current President of the Senate. Peace is the foundation of Cambodia’s development and growth today. That is why the Royal Government of Cambodia places utmost importance on maintaining peace for all—no matter the cost,” underlined H.E. Pen Bona, Head of the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit at a press briefing this morning.

H.E. Pen Bona added that there have been recent accusations claiming that 1. Cambodia is the aggressor, 2. Cambodia started the conflict, 3. Cambodia initiated the firing, and 4. Cambodia violated the ceasefire agreement reached on July 28, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

“Such accusations are baseless and do not reflect the true nature of Cambodia as a nation committed to peace,” the government spokesperson emphasised.

Moreover, he added, the Royal Government of the seventh legislature of the National Assembly, led by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, has launched the Pentagonal Strategy with the goal of transforming Cambodia into a high-income country by 2050. This ambition is firmly rooted in peace.

“Therefore, Cambodia must safeguard peace in order to fully dedicate its time and resources to nation-building and development,” he concluded. “In this sense, any armed conflict or war is something Cambodia must resolutely avoid.”
